AP Valves Buddy Inpiration Rrbreather

The Inspiration Vision

What is it?
Fully Closed - Circuit Rebreather Double redundant electronic control.

Who uses it?
Sport Divers, Extended-Range Divers, Trimix Divers (with modification).

How deep will it go?
The diluent gas determines the maximum depth: air limit 50m.

What skills are needed?
Extra training is required, it's different from open circuit. There's no substitute for experience BUOYANCY control will be different. You are a closed circuit novice.

Early History:
First conceived in 17th century by Giovanni Borelli. The first practical system was produced by Henry Fleuss in 1878. The first CO2 adsorbent was used by Khotinsky and Lake in 1881. Draeger produced systems prior to W.W.I. Navies of the world used Oxygen & Nitrox systems during W.W.II. and still do today. In recent history, the Electrolung was produced in 1969 as the first practical electronic control Rebreather. The Buddy Inspiration has been in development for over five years.

What is a Rebreather?
Gas is maintained within a breathing loop. Oxygen metabolism generates Carbon Dioxide(CO2), which is removed by absorbent material. The reduction in gas volume made up by O2 /diluent injection.

Closed Circuit Electronic Control:
There is no periodic loop venting. The PO2 is kept constant. O2 injection is computer controlled.

Why Fully Closed?
Ensures Optimum ppO2 and least N2 at all stages. This is Nitrox diving with no pre-mixing.Uses only the oxygen you metabolise, which is the same volume, reg ardless of depth.

Physics and Physiology:
Dalton's Law, Closed Circuit & Partial Pressure, Closed Circuit & Decompression, Basic Respiratory Physiology, Gas Toxicity.

The Course:

Pool session No.1

Pre dive check, weight check, pre breathe check, buoyancy control, open/close mouthpiece, manual control (solenoid stuck closed), open circuit bailout swim without mask, buddy control low po2 warning electronics failure, semiclosed mode, oxygen mode, open circuit oxygen, oxygen shutdown (solenoid stuck open), kit removal at surface

Pool session No.2

Pool session two is an examination of pool session one Successful completion of the practical exam is necessary to progress to open water training

Open water dives

Minimum six open water dives are needed (360 minutes in-water time). One instructor to two students ratio. Some skills to be done on each dive

Minimum Age: 18
Experience Level:
75 logged dives
Minimum cert of Nitrox Diver or equivalent
Duration: 4-5 Days
Cost: £500 inc boatdives and gas
