PADI Assistant Instructor
The PADI Assistant Instructor program provides PADI Divemasters, and those certified to leadership levels with other diver training organizations, with additional training as instructional assistants and dive educators.This Course can be taught separately but is now an integral part of the Instructor Development Course where you can choose to complete the Assistant Instructor and then continue with the main Instructor Training.
If you meet the above criteria then this program builds upon the your ability to organize and supervise dive activities, while concentrating on developing teaching skills. Through independent study, classroom sessions and practical application, candidates learn to construct effective teaching presentations and conduct PADI programs.
To help you through the program, PADI has developed an array of learning tools such as the PADI Assistant Instructor Workbook
The PADI Assistant Instructor program consists of:
- Formal training in conducting PADI programs and experience programs.
- Independent study assignments.
- Practical application sessions.
- Written examination
As a PADI Assistant Instructor, you'll be able to:
- Act as an instructional assistant
- Assume limited teaching responsibilities
Upon successfully completing the PADI Assistant Instructor program, you receive a certification card and wall certificate denoting this rating. You'll also become a member of PADI and receive benefits, including the ability to purchase professional liability insurance (which may be required to conduct some activities)
Candidates should be able to provide all their own diving equipment at a level acceptable for carrying out the supervision of beginners, including; alternate air source, dive light, whistle, knife, blank slate and pencil etc.
Candidates are encouraged to purchase the PADI Instructor Manual, Encyclopaedia of Recreational Diving and the Diving Knowledge Workbook, available from us
You'll need a signed medical and Emergency First Response certification or equivalent.
